Booking Resources
This page contains affiliate links. Where a link is marked "affiliate link", we may earn a commission if you buy or sign up through it, at no extra cost to you. Links marked "no partnership" are plain links; they pay us nothing. Neither changes what we write, and every article that names a company says which kind of link it carries. Details are on the disclosure page.
How to use this page
This is the last stop before you pay. Each company below gets the same three lines: what the link opens, whether we are paid, and the one thing to check before you book, taken from the article where we read the official terms. If the official page and this page disagree, the official page wins; prices and conditions change, and each article prints the date we checked.
Getting online in Japan
Sakura Mobile — affiliate link
- Link: Sakura Mobile (affiliate link). It opens the Sakura Mobile home page, not a product page; Travel eSIM is in the top menu, and monthly plans and home internet are under their own menus.
- What we link it for: travel eSIM, SIM and pocket WiFi for visitors; monthly SIM and home fibre for residents.
- Before you book, check this: the 3 GB/day travel plan's first day begins the moment you install the eSIM, not when you arrive in Japan. For a monthly plan, cancel by the 25th and service ends at the end of that month; cancel on the 26th or later and the contract runs through the end of the following month, and the final month is billed in full. For fibre, you must contact Sakura Fiber at least 45 days before your move-out date.

Airalo, Japan Wireless, eConnect Japan, IIJmio, Rakuten Mobile — no partnership
The same articles compare these providers on the same terms. We have no partnership with any of them, and the articles link to their official pages as plain links. Two things from those pages worth knowing before you buy: Japan Wireless states that the validity period starts once the eSIM is activated, regardless of where you are; and deleting an Airalo eSIM profile from your device is permanent, so do not remove it until your trip is over.
Rail passes
Klook — affiliate link
- Link: JR Whole Japan Rail Pass on Klook (affiliate link). It opens the 7-day nationwide pass product page. The regional-pass article links the corresponding Klook pages for each regional pass; those are affiliate links too.
- What we link it for: buying the Japan Rail Pass and JR regional passes before you fly.
- Before you book, check this: the refund policy and the exact format of what is mailed were not stated on the product page we could access, so confirm both on the page before ordering. We link Klook because it is the retailer we have a partnership with; it is not the retailer with the best-documented refund terms.

JR Group official site — no partnership
- Link: japanrailpass.net, online purchase. A plain link; we have no partnership with the JR Group or any JR company. The regional-pass article links each pass's official JR West and JR East page the same way.
- Before you book, check this: confirm that you qualify before entering payment details. If you arrive at the exchange counter without the required status, the pass will not be issued and your purchase price will not be refunded. Before the pass period begins, a ¥560 fee is deducted from a refund; there is no refund once the period starts, and no replacement for a lost or stolen pass.
jrailpass.com and jrpass.com — no partnership
- Links: jrailpass.com · jrpass.com. Both plain links.
- Before you book, check this: jrailpass.com is the retailer whose refund policy we could confirm: 85% back on an unexchanged pass returned within 11 months, or 100% with optional Cancellation Insurance. On jrpass.com, all refund and cancellation policy pages returned 404 when we checked on 2026-08-30, so read its terms directly before ordering.
Buying from Japan
Rakuten Ichiba via Moshimo — affiliate link
- Link: Shop Rakuten Ichiba (affiliate link). It opens Rakuten Ichiba's Japanese front page. The affiliate relationship is with Rakuten Ichiba through Moshimo, a Japanese affiliate network.
- Rakuten Global Express: official page, a plain link. Registering for Rakuten Global Express and the forwarding fees earn us nothing.
- Before you order, check this: the prohibited list is broad; nail polish, perfume, spray cans, mobile power banks, alcohol over 25% ABV and anything refrigerated are all excluded. For US-bound parcels, since 24 July 2026 both Standard Express and sea mail require a declared value above ¥410,000 per parcel, so check the US fee page before placing a low-value order. The service is for personal purchases and is not intended for resale.

TokyoTreat, Sakuraco, Bokksu, SnackCrate — no partnership
- Links: TokyoTreat · Sakuraco · Bokksu. Plain links; we have no partnership with any of these services.
- Before you subscribe, check this: shipping is charged per box at checkout and the amount is not published, so put a 1-month box in the cart and continue to the point where the shipping charge for your country is shown before you enter payment details. The cancellation cut-off date, after which the next shipment is already included in your bill, is not confirmed on any public page for any of the three, so ask each service's support before assuming you can cancel without affecting the next billing cycle.

What is not here
We do not write about credit cards, insurance, investments or medical services, so there are no booking links for them.
