Some links on The Fine Print may be affiliate links. If you buy a product or sign up for a service through one, we may receive a commission from the seller or its affiliate network. You pay the same price either way.

Each article that carries such links says so near the top, in line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements. If an article has no affiliate links, the notice still appears, because we would rather over-disclose than under-disclose.

What this changes, and what it does not

• Commissions help pay for the time spent reading official terms and checking prices.
• They do not change a verdict. Every article says who a product is not for, and names alternatives that pay us nothing.
• Prices and conditions are quoted from official pages with the date we checked them. Sellers change prices; if an article is out of date, the official page wins. Always confirm there before you buy.

Programs we take part in

We join affiliate programs run directly by the companies we write about, and programs run through affiliate networks. Where it matters, the article names the program.
